Google Maps

Just been on the latest release, yesterday, and I find my house is now on the system.

Check to see if yours is on and any other noted landmark.

Re: Google Maps

Yea, it's pretty good, just looking around and saw a mate cutting his hedge. Although faces and number plates are blurred out, it is, or could be a bit invasive!!

Re: Google Maps

I looked at mine- Obviously came along our road on a Friday afternoon as my Tucson was out and the recyclable bins were emptied and on the grass outside - Only thing is can clearly see my house number although that could be helpful when we want to sell the house smile
Really pleased that we chose blinds as you cant see in from any direction at all smile
Cheers

Re: Google Maps

My house doesn't appear, probably because I live up an unmade road and there would be too much camera shake at the speed they have to maintain. Anyone else missed out for that reason or in a too hard to find location?

Re: Google Maps

Same here, we live down a paved drive with 2 other houses, the camera car must have stopped at the end of the public road.

Must admit apart from being generally nosey, I find it useful, as I have to visit clients at home, by checking on there first I can identify their house, useful if its dark as can be difficult to find otherwise.

Re: Google Maps

Hi to you both,
You can tell if your road/location IS on the map because when you move the little person to the road/location on the map the road/location is outlined in blue.

If it doesn't then unfortunately they haven't updated for that road/location.

Is the road adjacent to yours blue?
If so, you can rotate the picture and look down the street.  I know it's not ideal but at least you may be able to see your gaff.

Re: Google Maps

I was just looking at that last night. The pic of my house is years old, back when my mum had a Vauxhall so must be atleast 2 years old. Ah well !

Re: Google Maps

Hi Eye 30
The roads at the top and bottom of my lane are outlined in blue, and I can view all around there, also the parking places of the flats behind me are also lined in blue which is interesting as this is private ground and is for access only. you can follow the arrows right past the flats and into the garages and parking places. Seeing as the flat dwellers stopped me using my rear gate to access the pub through their grounds, (no right of way, probably right) I can't see them too happy about Google driving round photoing their private parking. I can see my flue for the wood burner sticking up above the trees from the flats car park, because of that I can date the pictures as 2008 between May and October

Re: Google Maps

There is a school near me, and the car has gone right into the school car park, seems a bit naughty.

For my house it was taken last July or August as the lamp post outside my house was being replaced and the new post is in place with the barriers around.

Re: Google Maps

They've done Whitehall but not 10 Downing St.  Maybe they are waiting for the new occupant.  At present trends that seems unlikely.

New occupant never know it might be Nick Griffin.

Re: Google Maps

This google map thing is rubbish. Been trying to find "old git" and "gozza", but they must be off the face of the earth...

Sure is. Shows a very weedy driveway. Spookily enough, my driveway has been replaced this week.

Re: Google Maps

just flicked over to the terrain view, My house is on there but it looks like we were out, couldn't see round the corner to know if my car was there. Still quite an old pic though looking as the old floor tiles in the neighbours garden.
