sorry it is not just boiling  but frothing white froth, did have a water pump go a few months ago but has been fine since. replaced anti freeze at time and added holts rad weld as I suspected a leak previously.

Could be head gaskit im afraid, white froth is a give away as
The antifreeze mixes with the oil and foams... better get this fixed soon mate as your repair bill will climb huge if you dont... sorry

That is what I was afraid of is a head gasket, shame as it is such a nice car but too big a job for me to do now, (84) and as you say to get it done by a garage would not be worth it, thanks for reply, have to try and find another Sonata to last us out.

Please shop around mate, at this time you dont have to use main dealers... many garages and experianced individuals would do a much better price and a good job... hope you find a reason to keep her mate, clearly she has been a good car and you enjoy her.
Good luck buddy.

Re: 1997 v6 3.0i over heating

Just fitted new radiator cap and it did make a difference to the over heating but still miss fires and blowing white smoke from exhaust. tried K-Seal but did not work , running out of ideas now, Having been an automatic gearbox and engine re-builder in my youth ( now 84 ) I would have stripped her down myself in them days. just stripped out and replaced water pump, timing belt and reconditioned power steering pump it seems a shame to scrap her. there must be the same model about somewhere in England but have never yet seen one.thanks for every ones input if anything changes of interest will let you know'

Could be plug leads or coil packs?
