It's a luxury car - is any luxury car worth that if you're hard-nosed about it.

Hyundai have a lot of balls - they don't just talk up the brand to improve "perceived" quality - they built a quality car and put it on sale, learning all the time - the product manager of E-Class at Mercedes-Benz won't be quaking in his boots.

The days of Hyundai as a budget brand have gone forever.

It's a pity because it was a good market segment to occupy; cheap and cheerful cars.

But they will never be as cheap and cheerful as the incoming Chinese brands, so it was a case of adapt or die.

A used Genesis probably is worth it. Residuals on big petrols are terrible for the first owner.

"stupid" not to pay for a brand image?

It's human nature to be prepared to pay extra for something they want, whether it's image or function - otherwise we'd all be driving Trabants!
