2020 Map updates.
« on: January 18, 2020, 00:56:11 »
This forum seems to be up and down like a pair of.., I'll leave you to fill that in.

It's the time of the year when the new map updates are due, anyone have any idea when they are due?

It hasn't missed a heartbeat since we moved from punBB to SMF, as far as I'm aware  :o

I can`t imagine why anyone would want to have this crock updated.I`ve had to use it tnight to find my way in and out of a town centre I`ve never been to before and it was useless..Popping up with stuff like `turn right ahead` which actually was just a bend in the road..Its idea of 300 yards ahead is laughable. It comes up regularly with make a left turn then a right one when such a turn isn`t there..

Also worth remembering that once updated it will still be 2 years out of date. I have an updated dash Garmin that does the job perfectly and I can update via my computer in 20 mins and isnt 2 years out of date.

Called at my deaqlers a week ago, March 6th and they said they had not been told yet it was available.

paully, we picked up our Tucson at the end of October 2017 and did a trip o Scotland, the new Queensferry Crossing and access roads were not on the map, we crossed the Forth in mid air,.

It only opened on 30th August 2017 so was not unusual, we visited Scotland again in April 2018 after the February update and the crossing and roads were all there so I don't think the maps being two years out of date are valid.

To be fair I have been on numerous car forums and they mostly complain about their sat-navs being out of date and extolling the virtues of Tom Tom and Garmin. But I suppose if you prefer the cosmetic appearance of a built in sat-nav (as I do) instead of trailing wires then it's something to grin and bear. In rare cases when something drastic does happen, one could always pull over and use Google maps.  :)
