Hello and a question
« on: March 27, 2016, 19:01:06 »
Hi

I've just joined the forum today. currently own a BMW X5 3.d Auto and looking for a second vehicle. My wife wants a Hyundai Santa Fe (2nd hand, about 5k)

Do you have any tips and advice (other than those we all know for buying second hand cars in general), in terms of either specific things to look for on a Santa Fe or things I'm likely to encounter as common known faults when I purchase.

At £5,000 you could pick up a 200,000 mile 2010 model, a high mileage 2006-2009 model - but otherwise you'd be looking you're looking at the 2003-2006 model.

The 2.7 seems good but a gas-guzzler so only suitable for low mileage users

Thanks - the age of the vehicle doesn't bother me so much, if it has evidence of being well maintained. any known issues to look out for or be aware of once its in my ownership

A nice 2006 model (which incidentally I think are much better made)should be available from about £3,000 with 100k+.

Mine with 126k but otherwise perfect would only get that,  for that money out us wroth keeping as a winter/ tip run car.

Thanks you. So have you had any issues with it that I need to be aware of?

Hi

For that kind of money you'll get an early mk2
Mines a 2006 with just over 100k and still drives well and great on fuel.
Timing belt due at 100k make sure that's done, if car you get has good history it should be fine
