Servicing costs Booking via Hyundai online vs dealer
« on: September 29, 2015, 09:23:00 »
Hi guys,

Just looking for views on the difference between booking a service via the official Hyundai site and directly with the dealer.  I have just compared the price of a 5+ year full service for a i10.  My dealer wanted £250 for a full service, yet Hyundai online wanted £199 for the same service.

Now my question is why the difference, they'll be doing the same work?  I asked my dealer if they would match the £199 online deal, they said they couldn't and I would need to book through the WWW site to get that price, which I have now done! :-)

All very strange as you would have thought they would be the same really.

I've found Hyundai service pricing very variable, even within my own relatively small area, especially if you want any non-scheduled work done as well, like transmission fluids on 4wd automatics.

Having looked at the Hyundai UK website 5+ year servicing charges, they do look attractive, even in relatively low cost parts where I am.

Who will be doing the service.  Is it the garage that quoted £250?
I'm no expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong

My local Hyundai dealer will be carrying out the service. The same dealer that quoted £250, but will be doing the exact same service for £199, all because I booked it through the Hyundai WWW site.  It truly makes no sense, but hey, it saved me £50!  :D

Better in your pocket than the garage.

Wonder if they get an incentive or some form of % commission from HY.

Last time I was in my dealer I asked about the 4th service and quoted 2 prices.

The higher was what they said was Hy's "book price" and the lower was their own price.

Full Hy service would be carried out.

Not sure if they

Just booked my i30 Crdi for it's 6 year service dealer price was £330 with an MOT then they said to me go online and check the 5 year plus deals, did it whilst on the phone to them and full service online £219 then £50 MOT. They fine with me booking it like this i'll let you all know how it goes  :)

My advice is Book online for sure my service full service was £219 and my MOT discounted with my dealer for £30 so £250 all in was quoted £330. My dealer told me to book it online as it was cheaper. They get no bonus or anything but they can claim a discount on parts.
so 75,000ml service and MOT all sorted.

my Sata Fe was due for a 3 year, 40k service. Booking online showed no option for such a service so I contacted Hyundai through Twitter. I have been quoted £421 for a service, seems excessive to say the least. Does anyone else been quoted similar amounts (it's a 2.2l Diesel).

Curious that , when I checked my Sante Fe I also don't see any option for a 3 year service, nor infact any service, except for Summer check! But then again, my 3 year service isn't due until September, but I would have thought I would have the option in case the mileage suddenly increased and I needed one sooner that 12 months?

Hi Gav28, I had exactly the same issue. When I contacted Hyundai they simply said that the system wasn't picking up the mileage. Rather than processing it through their systems they simply contacted the local dealer on behalf. Nearly collapsed when they told me the price. My last car (an insignia 2.0d) cost £189 for a major service.

I understand that Kwik Fit and Halfords do warranty approved services. I may look at them and just get the summer check done by Hyundai for the system upgrades etc. £421 seems excessive.

You've probably been quoted for the 4-year 40,000 mile service - ie based on mileage, not time. They probably change more than the 20,000 miles or 2 year service.

I understood that since 2013, Santa Fe servicing has been every 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever occurs first - but with an optional, ie non-mandatory, oil change at 10,000 miles or 1 year.
