Title: Wiper advice
Post by: GPTodd on December 12, 2016, 21:12:12
I went to Halfords today (I can hear the scoffs from here  :D ) to get new wiper blades as all 3 are past their best.

I've a 2012 plate (would be 62 outside of NI) Santa Fe and the bloke in Halfords gave me Bosch SP26 (£18) and SP 13 (£9) for front and H352 (£10) for rear. I was a bit taken a back by the price but bought them with the intention of returning once I find them cheaper on-line.

Amazon is saying 24/13, as are a few other websites.

So question 1 is - what are the best sizes?
2 - any tips on best place to pick them up cheaper than Halfords?
Thanks!

I just bought replacement rubber blades, slide the old one out, cut the new one to size and replace. Total cost about £6 for three :-)

On our previous i20, we found the Hyundai replacements to be reasonably priced and gave good performance.

hopefully this will help someone...

It is specific to the i30 GD model

I got a quote from local Hyundai dealer (note that I didn't write st-ealer) of about £80 for the left and right wipers if bought separately, or £45 if bought in a kit.

I priced up the 26" (AR26U) and 13" (AR13U) Bosch Aero blades which are the Bosch recommended parts. The best I could get them for was about £16 on ebay   The Bosch catalogue is here : http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog.com/en/internet/ecat-rs/vehicle-info/-/vehicle/detail/HYU/1159/-9nbi9m922goeqv4t2rc7ln4eoh23bltg

I then discovered that the Hyundai OE fitted front wipers are made by Denso.  They are called Denso Hybrid Wipers and are sold by EuroCarParts/CarParts4Less and OPIE oils .

Note that the Denso passenger blade is sold as 14", though it is actually about 35cm long, ie. between 13 and 14".

ECP always seem to have a discount code (30% this weekend) so I got both the front wipers for £20 delivered.

The parts you want are

Denso Hybrid Blade 26 Inch  : ECP part code 485778266
Denso Hybrid Blade 14 Inch : ECP part code 485778136

Fitting is a doddle. Lift open the locking tab, slide out old wiper, slide in new wiper and close locking tab.

Also, the best price for the rear wiper I could get was £7 for the Bosch A310H on Ebay, which is a perfect match for the OE part but much much cheaper.

Bosch Aero wipers hard to beat, I had them on my last Santa Fe.

Bosch are very difficult to beat - check around though as prices vary considerably.
