Title: i20 wonn\'t start till I get back out lock, unlock and get back in
Post by: tam203 on August 24, 2016, 18:49:10
I recently bought this 2013 i20 from a local garage.

There seems to be some software problem which prevents the car from starting until I go through a ritual of getting out locking, unlocking and trying again.

Every morning on the way to work and the way back in the afternoon I get in the car and it won't start. The light's don't dim, it doesn't try turn over it just clicks. There is no indication that there is a battery fault (have watched to light dimming). Trying multiple times doesn't help. If I leave the vehicle, lock it with the key fob, unlock it, re-enter and try again the car will start first time. I've been doing this ritual twice a day for two days. The first time I called break down cover just for it to work when I tried again later.

Is this a known issue? The car is still inside it's 5 year warranty and has a complete service history. I will take it to a garage if there are now answers but it would be a bit of hastle.

Thanks,

Theo.

Sounds like an immobiliser issue - get it to the dealer.

I feel rather stupid but it might have just been that I wasn't pressing the clutch down when starting.

When I do, starts first time every time.

*embarrassed*

I know you're not the first to do this  ;)  and I doubt you'll be the last.
