High, has anyone fitted rear mud flaps with any success in keeping the rear tailgate from getting very dirty very quickly in wet weather?

For mudflaps to be effective they need to be the rally-style flaps that reach the ground - moulded mudflaps that only reach down a few inches are next to useless - and the have a marginal detriment to fuel economy.
