DONT PANIC !!
The only things that are really different are.
Engine Management Lights - Light On = failure
Noise underbonnet deadening material missing = failure
Exhaust and fuel tank heat shields missing = failure
Reverse lights will only fail if light is likely to fall off the car
Only one out of twin reg plate lights not working is a pass as is white light to the rear from the reg plate lamps.
Front fogs/DRL lights need to work from March 2018 so not for 3 years
Aftermarket HID kits - will fail on the basis that there is no self levelling system and headlamp washers..
A spacesaver wheel fitted on a car will pass a MOT but will fail on different size tyres on the same axle. So 2 space savers on the same axle will pass..
Manual advisories are still applicable for now so you will still get your 2 page of advisories from your local dealer and fast fit centre.
Corrosion - Is now assessed on whether the rigidity of the car is affected and not the previous assessment of within 30cm of a load bearing structure. So floorpans, wings, pillars and sills outside 30cm are now included.
The last one has been well overdue IMHO.
IMHO if you have an advisory which says " Steering rack inner ball joints have play" or similar - ask the garage how much play there is because play in thes can affected tracking and wear out tyres very quickly and may be worth replacing.
