Hi, new member here.
Just had my first service on my 66 plate diesel Tucson.
Before the service I explained that I had a drone noise on the rear of the car and could it be checked out under warranty.
On collecting the car tonight I was told that the rear tyres are stepped on causing the noise. It's only got 19600 miles on the clock and the only way was to replace the tyres which still have 5.8 of tread remaining. Has anybody else had the same problem.
Many thanks in advance

You have to ponder how the tyres got stepped. I'm sure new ones will cure the "drone" but what has caused the stepping? Did your service guy offer any thoughts?

I'd want the 12-axis suspension alignment checked as surprising small mis-alignments can cause problems like this - find somewhere that uses a Hunter laser alignment or similar

UPDATE... Have the 12 point laser alignment checked by local tyre specialist firm.. Both cambers  on rear out to Hyundai spec. Have then set to Hyundai spec and now noise not to bad. Not renewing tyres (hankook venus) as I still have 5.5 tread left. Not cheap.. still a bit pissed off that Hyundai Newport did not want to know as quoted that this wasn't covered under warranty seeing that the angles were set wrongly  under manufacture. :(

On my last three cars, I've made a point of having full 12-axis alignment done at around 5,000 as this gives the suspension bushes time to settle down after being strapped down to the bump stops, and then some, for the sea journey - in all three cases the settings were out of maker's limits and the cars ran much smoother once properly aligned.

I doubt that Hyundai are different to any other brand - the alignment is done at dockside during delivery but any further alignments are excluded under the warranty.
